Broadband Stats: Americans Are Satisfied With Their Internet Service

Over the past two decades, internet speeds have dramatically increased, with many Americans now having access to gigabit speed networks. That increase is thanks to the over $300 billion invested by cable internet service providers (ISPs) in critical infrastructure, and has meant that capacity and speed have stayed ahead of the curve. A new report from Leichtman Research Group shows that Americans are satisfied with their internet service and experience.

America’s internet success is exemplified by the fact that 68% of broadband subscribers say that their service meets the needs of their household. The past two years have dramatically changed online habits, often putting more demands on home networks. But thanks to the future proofing that cable ISPs have engaged in for years, networks were able to absorb the increase in traffic without problems, leading to high levels of satisfaction among customers.

Capacity is only half the equation, however. The contemporary online experience relies on a stable, fast connection for things like streaming video, playing games online, catching up with friends or coworkers on a video call, and much more. In fact, 63% of broadband subscribers rate their internet speed at least an 8 out of 10. As networks continue to grow, that speed is only projected to increase, as multi-gigabit speeds continue to roll out and bring us closer to the 10G future.

Moreover, those with network speeds over 100 Mbps are even happier with their internet than the rest, with 69% reporting that they are very satisfied with their service. Every person has different digital needs, which is why different service packages allow speeds and prices to fit all sorts of connectivity requirements.

As digital lives continue to change, and as more and more of daily life makes the most of a broadband connection, next generation networks will be ready to handle whatever new revolutionary technology is around the corner. As cable ISPs continue to upgrade networks, consumers come out on top.
